Diversity and inclusion

There is no ideal learner.

Zapiens isn't made for one kind of person. Whoever arrives may be fascinated or tired, have time to spare or an exam tomorrow. We want everyone to find a place, and we don't want to build barriers without noticing.

Different people, different days

We all learn and teach, at different moments. Sometimes on the same day.

  • Someone learning

They come because they want to understand, or because they need to. Saying "I don't get it yet" isn't failure: it's the starting point.

  • Someone teaching

They don't have to be a teacher: it can be a classmate or someone who just discovered something. Teaching isn't standing above; it's standing beside.

  • Someone exploring

They don't always come for an answer. Curiosity is available, not demanded: you can follow it, drop it or come back to it months later.

  • Someone keeping company

A friend, a teacher, a family member. Learning with someone also counts.

There are curious days and "I need to finish this for tomorrow" days. Both count. Zapiens shouldn't only serve people at their best.

Barriers we keep in mind

Not all of them are solved. We name them so we can work on them.

  • Cost

    Today

Practicing is free and the Base plan includes monthly AI credits for creating lessons.

    Still missing

Creating without limits requires Pro. We want the free plan to stay useful on its own.

  • Device

    Today

It works in the browser on a computer or a phone, with nothing to install, and on Android.

    Still missing

On iPhone, the app is still in beta.

  • Connectivity

    Today

Images on this site are optimized and sized for each screen, so they weigh less.

    Still missing

Zapiens needs an internet connection, and we haven't measured how it works on slow connections.

  • Language

    Today

The interface is complete in Spanish and English.

    Still missing

More languages are on the way. In other languages, part of this site still shows in English.

  • Vision and motor skills

    Today

This site works with a keyboard, with visible focus, a skip-to-content link and large touch targets.

    Still missing

We haven't done a full accessibility audit of the site or the app, and we don't claim WCAG conformance.

  • Motion and stimuli

    Today

If your system asks for reduced motion, the site removes animations.

    Still missing

In the focus group we heard that the app showed too many stimuli at once. It's on our to-do list.

  • Complexity

    Today

We write in short sentences and explain what the AI does: it suggests, and the person decides.

    Still missing

Signing in still has friction we want to reduce.

Decisions we've already made

Concrete things you can check in the product and on this site.

  • Practicing doesn't use credits: it's free.
  • The same lesson can be practiced eight ways, because there isn't one right way to study.
  • What you miss comes back sooner in review.
  • The AI suggests the lesson and the person decides what stays.
  • Across the site: keyboard navigation, visible focus and a skip-to-content link.
  • No animations when your system asks for reduced motion.
  • Each page declares the real language of its text, so screen readers pronounce it correctly.

Reviewing components one by one is not a certification. The technical details are in the accessibility statement.

SDG target 4.5

Inclusion and access

Target 4.5 calls for eliminating gender disparities in education and ensuring equal access for people in vulnerable situations, including persons with disabilities and indigenous peoples. It's much broader than a good interface. Our design decisions are concrete actions, but on their own they don't show that inequalities are shrinking.

Did you run into a barrier?

If something in Zapiens or on this site keeps you from learning or teaching, tell us. We review it and, when we can, we fix it.
