Impact and commitment

One system, many worlds.

Contributing to a more equitable future through learning.

Education is where we start. We want to widen the possibilities of learning and teaching, lower barriers and bring closer the knowledge that matters to people and to the world we share.

Education as the starting point

Zapiens does something specific: it turns a topic or a document into lessons you review, share and practice eight ways. It's used by people studying for tomorrow's exam and by people preparing a class.

The same system works for almost any knowledge: a formula, a language, a work procedure, the water cycle. That's why we ask a bigger question than how an app gets used: where do we want all that learning to point?

People · Planet · Prosperity

Three areas we want to direct our contribution toward. They are not new product pillars (we want to build the product open, active, adaptive and deep), and they are not results we've achieved: they are directions of work.

  • People

More people able to learn and teach, in different contexts and with fewer barriers of access, language, cost or design.

    Diversity and inclusion
  • Planet

Understanding our environment, and climate change in particular, as something you can also explore, practice and teach.

    Sustainability
  • Prosperity

Learning that opens training opportunities, especially for young people. Without reducing learning to productivity: knowing something just because also counts.

Alignment map

We relate Zapiens to three Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda and to five of their targets. SDG 4 is the core, because the product is educational. Targets 8.6 and 13.3 are connections to specific areas where we want to contribute.

Each target first shows what it calls for, with its official United Nations text. Then, separately, our reading: why we relate it to Zapiens, what we do today and what we want to do.

SDG 4

SDG 4: Quality education

Official text (United Nations): Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

It's the core of Zapiens: everything we build starts with learning and teaching.

Target 4.1

Target 4.1: Effective learning

What it calls for

All girls and boys completing free, equitable and quality primary and secondary education, with relevant and effective learning outcomes.

Official text (United Nations)

“By 2030, ensure that all girls and boys complete free, equitable and quality primary and secondary education leading to relevant and effective learning outcomes.”

Why we relate it to Zapiens
Zapiens is not a school and does not replace teachers. It can be a complement: a way to practice what's covered in class, and a way for teachers to turn their material into practice.
What we already do
The same lesson can be practiced eight ways, with immediate feedback, and what you miss comes back sooner. It's practice designed for remembering.
What we want to do
We're building practice for understanding and applying, on the same lesson, with feedback that explains why. We haven't measured its effect on learning, and we don't claim it improves grades.

Target 4.3

Target 4.3: Learning in and out of the classroom

What it calls for

Equal access to affordable, quality technical, vocational and tertiary education, including university. Its indicator counts participation in formal and non-formal education and training.

Official text (United Nations)

“By 2030, ensure equal access for all women and men to affordable and quality technical, vocational and tertiary education, including university.”

Why we relate it to Zapiens
A lot of technical and professional learning happens outside a classroom: a course, a work manual, a certification exam prepared at night. Zapiens can complement those formal and non-formal settings.
What we already do
Anyone can turn their notes, a syllabus or a technical document into a lesson to practice, in the browser, with nothing to install. The Base plan is free.
What we want to do
Better support for people who train others, for example ways to see how a group is progressing (this doesn't exist today). Zapiens is not an accredited institution and does not offer certified training: using an app is not the same as access to technical or university education.

Target 4.5

Target 4.5: Inclusion and access

What it calls for

Eliminating gender disparities in education and ensuring equal access to all levels for people in vulnerable situations, including persons with disabilities, indigenous peoples and children in vulnerable situations.

Official text (United Nations)

“By 2030, eliminate gender disparities in education and ensure equal access to all levels of education and vocational training for the vulnerable, including persons with disabilities, indigenous peoples and children in vulnerable situations.”

Why we relate it to Zapiens
A tool opens or closes doors depending on how it's designed: its language, its cost, the device it requires, whether it works without a mouse or without seeing the screen well.
What we already do
Practicing is free. Zapiens works in the browser and on Android, and the interface is in Spanish and English. This site works with a keyboard, with visible focus, and without animations when your system asks for that.
What we want to do
Review the app's accessibility, reduce the overstimulation people pointed out, and better understand the barriers faced by those furthest away. These are concrete actions; on their own they don't show that educational inequalities are shrinking.

Specific connections

Two areas where learning can contribute something concrete. Here there is still more intention than action, and we say so.

SDG 8

SDG 8: Decent work and economic growth

Official text (United Nations): Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.

Target 8.6

Target 8.6: Youth, education and training

What it calls for

Substantially reducing the proportion of young people not in employment, education or training. The target was set for 2020 and we quote it as written; its indicator measures young people aged 15 to 24.

Official text (United Nations)

“By 2020, substantially reduce the proportion of youth not in employment, education or training.”

Why we relate it to Zapiens
Learning also opens doors. Zapiens can bring practice and training closer to young people, including those who face barriers to taking part in it today.
What we already do
We don't have a youth program or training partnerships. What exists is the platform: free to practice and useful for almost any subject.
What we want to do
Explore a line of work with organizations that support young people in training. We don't measure employment or job placement, and we don't claim to have improved them.

SDG 13

SDG 13: Climate action

Official text (United Nations): Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.

Target 13.3

Target 13.3: Climate education and awareness

What it calls for

Improving education, awareness and the capacity of people and institutions to mitigate climate change, adapt to it, reduce its impacts and warn early.

Official text (United Nations)

“Improve education, awareness-raising and human and institutional capacity on climate change mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction and early warning.”

Why we relate it to Zapiens
Climate change is hard to teach: it mixes science, data and decisions. Learning it means practicing concepts and telling causes, effects and responses apart.
What we already do
Anyone can create a Zapiens lesson on a climate topic from their own material. That's a general capability of the platform, not a climate education program.
What we want to do
Develop reviewed climate content and materials for teachers. Zapiens does not offer any early warning service.

What we can show today

What can be checked, without impact counters.

  1. A product that works

Lessons from a topic or a document and eight ways to practice them, in the browser, on Android and in the iPhone beta. Practicing is free.

    How it works
  2. Design decisions

Keyboard navigation, visible focus, a skip-to-content link, no animations when your system asks for that, and an interface in Spanish and English.

    Diversity and inclusion
  3. What we learned by listening

In September 2026 we talked with five education students. They pointed out too many stimuli at once and friction when signing in. It was a first conversation, not a validation.

    About us

How we want to understand our contribution

Using an app, learning something and something changing in someone's life are not the same thing. We separate three levels so we don't confuse them.

  1. Alignment

Our intention relates to a target. That's what this map shows.

  2. Action

Something concrete exists that can be checked: a feature, a design decision, an activity.

  3. Result

A change was observed, with a clear method, date and scope. We don't have results like that to publish yet.

An example: as of October 2, 2026 there were more than 100 registered accounts. That tells us there is use. It doesn't tell us how many people learned or what changed for them. When we have evidence of results, we'll publish it with its method.
